Where Seattle Locals Eat

How We Pick Restaurants To Review

We all know about Seattle’s well known restaurants such as Canlis, Wild Ginger, Metropolitan Grill(one of my favorites), Pike Place Chowder, Dahlia Lounge, etc. These are the restaurants you find in guide books. By no means are we disparaging people from going to these restaurants. They’re popular for a reason, right? But……. if you really want to know where locals eat, what better source than those working in the restaurants themselves?

In our quest to find new and unexplored restaurants, we will ask the servers/bartenders/hosts of a restaurant where their favorite places are. We will then go the recommended restaurant(s) and then ask them for a recommendation and so on and so on down the rabbit hole of Seattle’s off the beaten path restaurants and bars. Our theory is that those who work in the restaurant industry have got to know where the best restaurants are.

In our “Where Seattle locals eat and drink?” series we’ll advise who recommend the place and then see where the person working at that restaurant recommends we go next.

“Locals Only” grading-We’ll assign a grading as to how “local” a place is

    • Well known or Touristy. Most locals don’t go there unless they have business dinners or visitors in town.
    • Most locals know about it
    • Locals “in the know” know about it
    • Only those who live close by know about it.
    • You’re in on the secret. Don’t tell anybody!
